It would seem that the equipment released separately (and soon to be bundled with) Rock Band 2 are actually quieter than the original Rock Band gear. What does this mean exactly? Well after numerous tests in which the team over at Joystiq went through three varying strengths used to press down the buttons and hit the drums, they’ve come to the realization that the nicer/additional springs have made everything a lot quieter.

The biggest difference came from the fact that due to how much more responsive they were, you could actually play the game a lot softer then you can on the original equipment. If you’ve got some broken parts and angry neighbors, consider picking up the Rock Band 2 gear.
