Atari and Infogrames have been blowing into the new world of video gaming that they had hope would befall them. So far, it looks like where they’re really going to strive is over in Europe.
While neither company plans on dropping what they do best, it would seem that they’re going towards the distribution route. Infogrames CEO David Gardner explained shortly after the deal they struck up with Namco Bandai that their goal would be to help Atari grab a 25% distribution hold over in Europe. EA, Activision, and Ubisoft have already staked their claim over there, making it hard for any other publishers to get their product to the stores. So Infogrames sees this as the best possible way to make use of Atari and capitalize on a multi-billion dollar market.
