To the surprise of no one, children younger than 18 were able to buy games rated M for mature on auction sites.
The Welsh Heads of Trading Standards used volunteers between 12-16 years old in an attempt to prove something anyone who uses the internet already knows. The kids were successful on 38 of 44 attempts and got to get their GTA IV or Gears of War on.
The solution to this problem? Why age-checking software of course! Forget “parenting” and “taking five seconds to look over your kids shoulder to see what she/he’s buying on eBay.”
