In news that surprises absolutely no one, Harmonix has announced Rock Band 2 for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The Xbox version is due out this September, with the PS3 version sometime later.

The title will feature newer, improved drums, along with the mandatory new set list and fresh coat of paint. While this could just be example of milking the cash cow, Harmonix did say they have added some groovy new features.

Any downloaded song you purchased for the first game will be playable in the second, which is a simple, yet very smart idea. Rock Band 2 will be at E3 in July.
